After years of providing CPA services to attorneys administering estates, we realized that they did not have adequate access to the professional resources necessary to process estates efficiently. Many avoidable errors were made by well-meaning professionals who lacked important skills of other disciplines. We realized that no single professional discipline could best meet the complicated needs of estate administration.

For example, attorneys, currently doing most estate administration work due to their central role, often prepare taxes and do the accounting; however, their practice discipline isn't in preparing taxes and doing accounting. The accountants/CPAs, who understand taxes and accounting better than attorneys cannot give legal advice. Neither attorneys nor the accountants/CPAs understand the art of creating and preserving wealth as well as financial professionals, the group least involved in the process.

Each discipline needs the others to address most effectively the many disparate concerns estate administration raises. Furthermore, this area is becoming more not less complicated with each tax “simplification”.

OUR CREDO

TO LIVE UP TO THE INTELLECTUAL & PROFESSIONAL DEMANDS OF OUR PROFESSION.
TO CONDUCT OURSELVES AT ALL TIMES WITH HONESTY AND PROFESSIONALISM.
TO TREAT OUR CLIENT'S NEEDS AS IF THEY WERE OUR OWN.
TO HANDLE OUR CLIENT'S ESTATES WITH CARE AND RESPECT.
TO MAINTAIN CONFIDENTIALITY IN ALL OUR DEALINGS.
TO MAINTAIN OUR INTEGRITY AT ALL TIMES.

OUR MISSION

To work with attorneys, financial professionals and accountants/CPAs in order to provide beneficiaries with integrated estate admininstration services to achieve the most effective realization of their goals in wealth transfer and tax minimization.

OUR APPROACH

We bring together these professionals:

  1. A proven tax strategist to minimize present and future income and estate taxes;
  2. Competent legal counsel to advise on legal issues and prepare legal documents, and;
  3. A seasoned financial professional to assist beneficiaries in distributions and planning for future generations.

Our experience indicates that the best estate administration results are achieved when all three core areas of expertise are integrated to represent the interests of the beneficiaries. Limited by statute to nine-months for settling the estate, Estate Admin Associates, LLC creates an arena where professionals work together in a unified, synchronized manner, yet retain independence in their own areas of expertise.

RATIONALE

This approach bolsters three areas of weakness created by traditional methods of estate administration: unrecognized tax problems, runaway legal costs, and unjustified financial service charges. Major tax leakage problems, often encountered by the beneficiaries years after the process, can be avoided. Administrative legal costs that are higher than necessary can be controlled. Commission-driven financial sales can be checked for appropriateness by the other independent parties. Our unique approach brings the best professionals together, creating a natural system of checks and balances to protect the interests of the beneficiaries and the estate.

  1. A proven tax strategist to minimize present and future income and estate taxes;
  2. Competent legal counsel to advise on legal issues and prepare legal documents, and;
  3. A seasoned financial professional to assist beneficiaries in distributions and planning for future generations.

These three core areas of expertise had to be integrated together in order to ensure that our clients received optimally coordinated tax, estate and financial planning strategies.

In addition, this approach mends three areas of weakness created by traditional methods of estate administration: (1) it plugs a major tax leakage problem often encountered by the beneficiaries years after the process; (2) it brings runaway administrative legal costs under reasonable control, and; (3) commission-driven financial sales that served the planner better than the beneficiaries or the estate can now be checked by the other independent parties.

Estate Admin Associates, LLC creates an arena where the three professions can work together in a unified and synchronized manner, yet retain independence over their own areas of expertise. In addition, a natural system of checks-and-balances is created to protect the interests of the beneficiaries and the estate.

Noted Work in Estate Administration: Judicial Testimonial

The high profile bankruptcy estate case presented below involved the last on air TV license for the Washington DC Metro area with a potential 2% national audience. Mr. Voutsas administered the Estate and also designed the reorganization plan. Judge Mitchell, of the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of Virginia made the following finding regarding Mr. Voutsas:

"Mr. Voutsas' services were necessary and benefited the estate...quite frankly, without his testimony, I don't believe I could ever have made a finding that the Debtors plan was feasible and, without his testimony, the objection filed by Home Shopping Network and Silver King Broadcasting would probably have been sustained. And what would have resulted would have been the confirmation of the Creditor's Committee’s plan."

Other Noted Accomplishments:

In 2000 an national CPA firm and a national consulting firm failed in their efforts to calculate certain circuit operating costs for the Defense Information Systems Agency. In 1989, he negotiated the first ever public/private affordable-housing cooperation agreement with Arlington County, Virginia.
